Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. From the age of 10 she was involved as the lead in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It also was the film that was most popular of 2001. Its opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performance of three new starlets. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable.
